I still don't understand the hate for Hillary Clinton. What is it about people that causes them to hate on her?

Note, the question is not what is it about her? The question is, what is it about the people who hate?

One thing I've seen among some is resentment over Bill Clinton.

You mean among Republicans? Yeah, that I see. I don't why independents and Democrats would resent Bill. They loved him at the end of his Presidency.

Yeah, pretty much it was the Republicans.

I think our culture spends a lot of time assigning certain taboos around specific personality traits, especially when regarding public figures. Some people feel betrayed when a public figure displays these traits, and take it very personally, for reasons that escape me, maybe because they like their public figures to be an optimized reflection of themselves. This betrayal, taken so personally, manifests as hate, I think.

She voted for the Iraq War. She does not always tell the truth.

It's not rational if these aren't things that Clinton said. These are things that the media pundits are impugning to her motives. I know why the media does it. What I don't understand is why everyone is so ready to believe the worst of Hillary Clinton, and not about Barack Obama or John McCain.

People for the most part do not hate John McCain, despite him being far more of a political opportunist and far more of a racially divisive candidate.

Shakespeare's Sister did a long series of "Hillary Sexism Watch" posts:

I'm expecting more of the misogyny to be directed towards the Obamas now. Michelle Obama is even more feminist/radical/whatever than Hillary, and is a less experienced politician.

I think (hope?) there's less hate than there appears to be. When I went to the caucuses, there was a lot of "they're both great candidates, but..." from both sides. However, the loud voices (media, bloggers, random people who like to talk loudly and often about politics) are probably more likely to set it up as an adversarial thing because that's how you generate controversy (ie. attention).

I think that it is as simple as she is a strong female that wants to take on the role dominated by men. I think it goes deep down that people still can't see a woman being in a position of power and even if they don't want to admit it, that is the underlying reason for all the hate. This is not about just men having this reason, but women also. As in other facets I notice that many women will instantly hate a woman with a stronger personality whether or not she has said or done anything wrong.
