The Singles Map

Looks like Seattle has approximately 40,000 more single men than single women. No wonder it feels like climbing uphill around here.

Does this count heterosexual singles only?

I have no idea. It may count gay men. It may count elderly men as well.

Up to age 64. Just curious since I know that Seattle has a large gay population and Atlanta has a large lesbian population. Wondering if that skews the numbers.

those 40,000 men are single for a reason. I want to see a survey that lists why they are single.

Dude! Finally! Someone is agreeing with me on my observations! Ha!

Thank you :)

As single women, we have a whole variety of social responsibilities because of our rarity - approaching men first, because we've trained most men to not approach us because it's totally overwhelming; and not being total princesses when we get into relationships with men because we take for granted their "replaceability". No man is replaceable! Only what you want, or not what you want. Hmph.

I'm sure there's more responsibilities if I thought about it.

Scot made the amusing observation that perhaps this map helps explain the difference/relative importance of fashion between the two coasts.
