Wow. Balduccis?!?! That really surprises and disappoints me.
Any place with a reputation notable enough that I've heard of it without having been in one should do better than that. Its supposed to be a really great market for food geeks.

I guess I'm not getting why this should be considered offensive; to me, this is great incidental comedy, one of those occasions where someone just simply wasn't thinking: "this sign ... ok, put it on the lox, and the lamb shank, and, yeah, we have a couple of others. Put it on the other sale items." And thus we have people giving ham for Chanukkah (hereforth known as Hamukkah).

And I like it because I can make one of my favorite bad puns.

Incidental humor - humor brought about because someone really wasn't thinking and said or did something that would have been perfectly normal under other circumstances - is one of my favorite types of humor. It's like on this season's Amazing Race - there was a prize for winning a challenge that was being held in Burkina Faso; the prize was a trip to the Caribbean. That, in and of itself, should make anyone who's studied history raise an eyebrow. The prize was won by the only African-American pair in the competition (a brother and sister). And to me, that's funny because it's just ... wrong, but not maliciously so. It's a social pratfall, with no ill intent.

It's nice to know, though, that the ham is probably really damned good ham, then.

Yeah, it doesn't seem offensive to me so much as just clueless. Some people are sensitive though.

Yeah. I was intending to link to their apology.

Ah, I had followed a different link to the picture earlier today...I had failed to follow yours :).

I guess we should shame Weight Watchers too ...

Go to weightwatchers.com, and search for "Reuben Bites."

See, now that one is way more borderline. You gotta be pretty clueless to not know ham isn't kosher. I look at the reuben bites recipe and nothing pops out at me. There's some pretty minute details about kosher that I wouldn't expect anyone but an observant Jew to know.

Slightly off topic:
I checked here and there, and found that tomato sauces that normally takes five to twenty minutes to be prepared, and a price far less than, say, 6.90 dollars, could be ready straight for dinner tonight, that is in 2 hours from now. And, needless to say, will be way more savoury than Balduccis ones.

Just for info :D

Heh. There isn't even a Balducci's near me. Though I must confess to over-paying by shopping at Whole Foods. There are some things they do better, and I just don't want to go to more than one market for my food.
