So Heroes is a huge geek television show. Why then no geek ads, but lots of ads for baby stuff?

in contact with non-geeks, i've found that the series is pretty darned popular outside of geek circles, as well.

plus, geeks have babies, too.

i'm always amused by how much people can get distracted by the clothes the characters wear and the names they call themselves.

Because people with babies are at home watching lots of television while the geeks Tivo it without commercials?

Because only the men in the show are awesome, and it's actually a show totally targeted at 30-something women but stealth.

The hot chicks are crazy. And the rest of the women are either Bad™ or 16 years old.

well, the hot chicks are crazy (Niki/Jessica, Meredith - Claire's bio-mom) or they're killed (Simone, Hana "Wireless" Gitelman*, the waitress that Hiro tried to save from Sylar, etc). the rest are young (Claire, Molly) or an older mother-figure (Claire's adoptive mother and biological grandmother come immediately to mind, but also Sylar's mother), and consequently removed from active sexual identity. there's a lot of interesting subtext going on in the series from that perspective.

there are exceptions to the above, of course, such as Audrey (Matt Parkman's FBI partner for a time, who knows about his ability), but they are rare.

*her story is in a four-part series in the NBC Heroes webcomic, but she does show up on screen a couple of times.

I have no idea. They play it on two seperate stations here. The Netherlands station always advertises America's Top Model during Heroes. The second most advertised product during the show is generally fiber enriched products.... Hm....
