Property values
The government assesses property values way too high for property taxes.

When the government takes property, it says the property value is way lower than it really is.

Shouldn't that be titled "Stating the Obvious"?

No.

OK that felt like a monosyllabic grunt, but I reply to it as if you had stated a complete argument. I suppose I am a bit bitter, and pressume that much of the government is out to shaft me for its own purposes. I see it like a big machine that has taken on a life of its own and its main purpose is survival and maintanence.

The two statements are a sign of cognitive dissonance.

I would argue that they are not in opposition at all...but rather one leads logically to the other,(for the person in power.) I think if you assign profit as motive for either action, there is no conflict in either act for the government, the tax payer is another matter.

Of course you would argue this. You are experiencing cognitive dissonance, so your brain is going to try to find a reason that holding two opposite views is not really opposite.

Seriously, please explain the opposing views, as I am not seeing them. Obviously...

It's the same semi-market valuation. Yet it is too high when it is used to determine taxes, but too low when getting paid.

Yes, yes, yes. I understand and accept these. I also understand why you might think that I suffer from cognitive dissonance. Should I attempt to change the system to alleviate this? LOL Hell I'd love to get in on that scam myself.
