Network entertainment

Has anyone reading this set up a network entertainment system? I.e. computer, stereo, video, all hooked up together and working together over wired/-less ethernet. I know I need a new TV (mine isn't HD) and receiver/amplifier (mine isn't digital), but I'd also like to do without a DVD player (got one in the computer). Also, would prefer to run the cable through the computer because I have a media center PC with basic TV recording features. Swung by Magnolia Hi-Fi the other day but left because they didn't have shit for those kinds of setups there to look and and play with.

Figure it's time to get rid of my 1988 stero and consolidate space.
