Right or happy

I've come to the conclusion that a large group of people would rather be right than happy. In other words, in an argument they will continue on in order to convince other people of the rightness of their position rather than just let things go. Even when it so obviously doesn't make any difference to anything which person is right. Some people just have to emerge the victor.
