Project management & shared responsibility

I really like the idea of not being the project manager on a project, of just answering technical questions. My one experience now with a real project manager though is that he didn't really track the issues on the project very well. I don't know if that's endemic to the profession, if he was a poor project manager, or if this was a lapse. Nevertheless, there were enough dropped balls that I'm less enamored of the idea now.

On a related note, but not the same person or the same issue as the aforementioned, I also have run into an issue where I cannot trust the information given to me by someone. This means I have to become an expert in another area, and to network and get buy-off from an added group of people. I've done it before. It's not that bad a thing. It's just extra work. But I don't like going around the union work rules. We don't have a union. But it's a good way to describe it. It's someone else's job. I don't mind the work. But I do mind having to coordinate with someone who I then have to re-do all their work.

Yes, all that is vague.

No, it isn't a huge issue in my life. Minor irritation only.

I don't plan to delete my LJ (I paid for permanent status, dammit), but this will be the last post. I don't plan to read it anymore, either…

Turns out my insurance is cut off at midnight tonight, not the end of the month. In a way, that's a good thing. Now I'll move my appointment…
