Pictures from balcony

This is the view from my balcony at the Wickaninnish Inn, near Tofino, B.C. It's raining today, so I will be sitting here and watching the tide come in and out. And reading. Finished The Maltese Falcon last night. Today I am reading Lamb: the Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal.

Secret Cove #1

Secret Cove #2

The name of the spot is actually Secret Cove, though I suspect the hotel management are the ones who named it.

If the pull of the moon's gravity is enough to raise millions of cubic feet of water a few feet higher, why don't I feel any lighter near high tide?

Notes on Victoria

The Eternal Egypt exhibit at the Royal BC Museum disappointed me. First, it was very crowded. Second, most of the art they showed was images of kings. Only a few items that were pictures of gods or demons or other stuff. And the kings all looked the same.

Had dinner with Leia and Jon on their honeymoon, after which we sat on the waterfront while Jon smoked a cigar.

Finished Lamb. Review later. Short version: I didn't think it was as funny as Deb did when she cracked up constantly while reading it. But then, it takes a lot for me to actually laugh out loud.
