6 p.m., today. Movies at my place. I've got a couple of Hitchcock (Notorious and Rebecca) as well as my shabby collection. Come over. Relax. Bring movies. I will make cookies (molasses).

Quick movie reviews

Watched a couple of movies with Deb this weekend. Catch Me If You Can with Leonardo DiCapro, Tom Hanks, and Christopher Walken. It had promise, but we turned it off because the slow parts really dragged. Instead we watched Bend It Like Beckham, the story of two English girls (one of Indian descent) playing on a football team with varying degrees of support from their parents. Kind of typical plot regarding the parental involvement where the parents don't respect the choices the teens make. But not done horribly at least. Quite funny though. So definitely worth watching. Third movie was tonight for movie night. We watched Spellbound which was nominated for a number of Oscars in 1946 and won for best score. However, it's a very cheesy movie, even if it was directed by Alfred Hitchcock. A female psychoanalyst falls for her new boss, who turns out to be an amnesiac paranoid schizophrenic with a guilt complex who has secretly replaced the person who was supposed to be her boss. So she decides to help him rather than turn him over to the police because her judgement is so much better than theirs.
