I am now all trimmed.

No, get your mind out of the gutter. I didn't trim that!

I did that last week. Sheesh.

For the first time since late September 2002, I whacked off a good portion of my goatee. From June on last year, I was growing the goatee. It was an inch or two long in September, when I decided to trim it from its wild unruly state before a date. After a bit of the date, she notices the lack of wild man mountain look, and says in a disappointed voice You cut your beard! Being the sucker I am for a compliment from a pretty girl, I haven't done more than a trim to even the thing up for over a year now.

But over the last few months I've grown increasingly disenchanted with it, even though I tend to get compliments and it was at least a little different than the standard look. Mostly, it's because my facial hair, especially at the point of my chin, is very brittle and breaks off easily. So the sides grow faster than the middle. I also get lots of split ends, and my skin also gets irritated under the beard.

Historically, I've noticed that I tend to want to shave the thing off when I haven't shaved my cheeks. 15 minutes ago it all came together. Keeping it looking nice while long, the irritation, the breakage, and the rest of my face being unshaven. Pulled out the beard trimmer and chopped it down to about ½ inch.

It's not like it will really make a difference in getting compliments from pretty girls. Sheesh. The rest of me is damn pretty too.
