I am finding it exceedingly difficult to keep my mind on tasks at hand today. Mostly I need to go through my papers and throw away or file. This is something I have needed to do for months now. You might have seen it on a few plans for the day. I have worked my way through all the stuff not in my big basket o' paper, but that only covers the last three weeks.

To avoid this, I have surfed, read the paper, eaten, played Halo, and more.

I think I will just drag the basket into the living room and dump it onto the floor. Then I will have no choice but to go through it.

Oh, and the company picnic starts in an hour. I will go to that. Last call for people who wanna tour Safeco with me.

No, not the crack bored picnic, the Expedia company picnic at Safeco Field. I went today. What a waste of time. Even worse than I expected. I normally hate picnics, but this didn't even qualify as a picnic. We had catered "ballpark food" that wasn't even done by the Safeco Field staff. I got food poisoning. One hot dog and 15 minutes later I was running for the green stalls of the men's room.

I arrived around 4:50. Apparently, I missed all but one of the "backstage" tours, which ran every 15 minutes until 4:45. Then they stopped until 6:30. I didn't want to wait that long, so I bailed.

I did get to walk around on the warning track (they didn't let us onto the grass), the dugout, and the bullpen. So it wasn't a complete bust. But almost. I did reach through the ropes and feel the field grass though. I was expecting it to be longer. Maybe an inch long. Perfectly manicured, like a putting green. No weeds. Not used to seeing that in such a large expanse of lawn.

I am maybe a third of the way through sorting my laundry basket of paper. After I get through with that, I need to do even more sorting and then filing. My paper piles right now are:

  • Investment company stuff
  • Bank and credit union stuff
  • Frequent flyer statements
  • Miscellaneous
  • Reading materials
  • Health insurance information
  • Insurance
  • Automobile
  • Pay-stubs
  • Bills
  • Mortgage
  • Mementos

Oh yeah, and trash, the largest pile.

Gonna take a break in a bit and head up to the Mercury. If I pick you up and take you home tonight, please step over the piles of paper.
