One other thing, final estimate for my kitchen came in $4,000 over what he told me last week. Given that it was already at the high end of what I wanted to spend, that's a non-starter.

Kitchen remodel isn't shelved, at least not yet. Now I must look at what I can cut out of the plan to make it happen.
