Condominium association
Well, my condo association annual meeting is Tuesday and I won't make it.

I asked a fellow owner to vote for me. Let the building manager know I was doing this.

Got a call from him just now, trying to get me to give my proxy to someone else. I am amused. It's like high school.

Board elections, and possibly a proposal to prevent non-owner-occupied condo sales. In other words, you won't be able to sell to people who aren't going to live in the unit, unless the overall percentage of renters is below a threshold.

If you already have a cap for % renters, then I'd vote no (not that you are asking) Why would you risk not being able to sell, when you can let the buyer worry about whether they can rent it out?

I'm ramping up for condo politics come July

We don't have a cap for renters. This is how they are looking at putting one in place.

I can't imagine any good coming from a regulation that can stop a sale based on a future owners plans.

Well, it wouldn't stop the sale. They just wouldn't be able to rent it. Basically, the proposal is to grandfather in existing owners.

However, it would suck to own a place and not be able to rent it because 8 other units are already rented.

Oh, and I'll give you a call back tonight about your message from Friday. I ignored all my messages over the weekend.

We recently converted from coop to condo and made limited renting of units easier. BIG mistake. The renters don't have the same regard for the building or their neighbors as the owners.
