Also, the Facebooks
I'm mostly taking a break from posting to Facebook.  Don't hate it, and I'm still using it.  Just not posting.  Trying out some different ways of using it to see if they are better for my well-being.  Right now I'm mosting commenting only, and I did post a couple of Christmas messages.  I'm not even sure why I'm doing this or what I hope will happen.  I just know that I have been increasingly depressed lately over my relationships with people, and that's where a lot of my relationships happen. So if I'm going to change things, I need to change the 80%, not fiddle at the edges. Again, it's not Facebook itself so don't irritate me with anti-Facebook comments.  I get it, people hate Facebook. In this case, I mostly hate me.

I had some of the same thoughts, and I changed my FB experience a lot based on that. I blocked the sites that got linked the most (news and clickbait). What a difference it makes. And I made some hard decisions about some people, but it turned out to be a better thing for me, without having to give it up entirely.

Unfortunately, none of the blocking I've done seems to help a bit in reducing how much I see the sites that irritate me the most. There's always a new one and the blocking of sites seems spotty too.

I want to just scream at people, "Why do you share such stupid shit??" And that's one of the things I hate about me. I don't want to be *that* person.

Hmm. That seems weird, because I can block it completely, and I don't ever see it. But sites like vice.com have a bunch of subdomains that you have to block, also.

I also use SocialFixer in Chrome, and I've told it to block the friend ticker and the trending box on the right. And a few other annoying things. It seems to do the job.

And yes, I'd love to yell at people for posting stupid shit. All the time. heh.

My point is, though, not about how to do it, but that it's good you're changing things. Our experience is malleable, after all, and no one else is going to change it for us.
